Use CookSurprise Inside Claude and Other AI Agents (MCP)
"What should I make for dinner?" is a question people already ask their AI assistant — and the answer is usually a generic recipe pulled from memory, with no timings you can trust and no sense of what's actually in your kitchen. CookSurprise was built to answer that question properly. Now it plugs straight into the assistant you're already talking to.
CookSurprise is live as an MCP server. MCP — the Model Context Protocol — is the open standard that lets AI agents call real tools instead of improvising. Connect it once and Claude (or ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client) can generate a complete recipe, browse a curated collection, and answer cooking questions — with structured ingredients, real timings, and macros.
What your assistant can do
- Generate a recipe — from any prompt ("a 20-minute spicy vegan noodle bowl," "use up these three ingredients"), get a full recipe: quantities, step-by-step instructions with timings, prep/cook totals, macros, and a drink pairing. This is the star — the app's "surprise me" magic, on tap in the chat.
- Ask a cooking assistant — substitutions, techniques, scaling a recipe up or down, storage. Real answers with next steps, not a shrug.
- Browse the curated collection — a hand-picked set of recipes filterable by cuisine, diet, mood, or max time. Free.
Browsing is free; generation and the assistant run on a daily free allowance — no credit card. Because the assistant reasons over the results, whole flows come naturally: "generate a weeknight dinner for two, then tell me what to prep the night before."
Connect in about two minutes
In your MCP client, open connector settings, add a custom connector, and paste the Keelara MCP server URL — leave the OAuth fields blank, since registration is automatic. Sign in with a free Keelara account, set the tools to Always allow, and go. The full walkthrough and FAQ are on the CookSurprise MCP page, and you can try each tool live in the linked Keelara console playground.
The full app is still here
The connector complements CookSurprise, not replaces it. Keep spinning up ideas with the random recipe generator and building out a week with the meal planner when you want the full experience. And since its sibling MixSurprise is an MCP server too, one Keelara login covers dinner and drinks. Connect CookSurprise and let your assistant actually cook with you.
